-
- We're in the process of cleaning out our storeroom. We have 200 copies of
- DoubleVision which need to be cleared out, or trashed. We published this
- Apple-developed (by Kurt Schmucker's ATG group in Maryland) MacApp sample
- application in a 2-disk package with full-color manual with the understanding
- that we could distribute it through the same channels as our other MacApp tools
- and goodies. Unfortunately, AFTER it was in the process of printing/packaging,
- Apple Legal and Apple Software Licensing changed their minds and decided that
- we could only distribute to our own MADA members. That cut out resale through
- APDA and other resellers--and lost us about $4,000.
-
- The DoubleVision Product Description is as follows:
- Catalog No. DV-1 / Price: Member $40 [Originally slated to be $50]
- DoubleVision is the most complex MacApp sample program available. It shows how
- to use 32-Bit Color QuickDraw. DoubleVision is a general purpose visualization
- program to display 2-dimensional data where each (x,y) value in the domain has
- two parametric values associated with it. Each of these values is displayed
- using a color (or gray) scale in one of two primary windows. The user is also
- able to produce histograms for any subregion of the domain. DoubleVision is
- also a sample program for scientific data visualization in source code form to
- assist Macintosh third party software developers. Within the guidelines of the
- DoubleVision license, you can use portions of the DoubleVision source code in
- your applications. Requires MacApp 2.0B9, MPW 3.0, 32-Bit Color QuickDraw and
- LaserWriter Driver 6.0. Current for MacApp 2.0B8; simple instructions included
- for use with later versions.
-
- This same software is now on the free Apple-distributed CD-ROM "A Disk Called
- Wanda". (No one can accuse Apple Legal of consistency.) But, if you don't
- have a CD-ROM drive, or can't get hold of the CD, or if you'd like to get the
- complete full-color manual that is lacking on the CD, then here's how you can
- get our publication of DoubleVision for FIVE BUCKS...
-
- Order ANY MADA product (including tee-shirts or polo shirts) before July 1st,
- and we'll include DoubleVision in your order for only $5.00. OR--If you renew
- your membership (including early renewal) or join MADA for the first time
- before July 1st, we'll give you DoubleVision for $5.00 plus shipping.
-
- Link your order, registration or renewal to MADA with VISA, MC or AmEx card
- number and expiration date. Or send your check to MacApp Developers
- Association, PO Box 23, Everett, WA 98206. You may also order by phone, (206)
- 252-6946.
-
- Check the "About MADA" folder on the DSBB for current membership fees and a
- listing of MacApp tools and goodies. (The catalog as posted on the DSBB does
- not include Goodies Vol. 3, $40; Addison-Wesley's "Programming with MacApp"
- Book/Disk Package, $28; or MADA tee-shirts, $10; polo-shirts, $15. Also, the
- offer of a free MacApp Condensed Reference to new members has been withdrawn.
- The Condensed Reference is in the process of being upgraded to 2.0 and will
- include C++. Price and release date TBD.)
